Instruction Manual - BIOS Upgrade
Attention:
The enclosed CD is a BIOS upgrade that must be installed prior to using your battery. In addition to the CD you
can also download the files from http://www.lenmar.com/folders/sony_bios_update_for_battery.htm
*This BIOS is not compatible with machines that have been upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit, from an original 32
bit machine.
If you are installing from the CD or the link above please copy the files to your desktop before installing.
Running this program directly from the CD will not allow the BIOS to install correctly. If your laptop already
has a 3rd party BIOS installed on it, you must restore the original BIOS before installation.
Make sure your existing battery is installed and charged to at least 20 %, the upgrade software will not run if the
battery capacity is less than 20%. Be sure to keep your AC adapter connected to the laptop at all times during
the upgrade process. In the event that your existing battery is inoperable please see section labeled “No
Original Battery” for directions on how to install the BIOS without your existing battery.
1.) Save the two files to your computer and once copied click “Sony Bios Patch_20110116.exe”*
2.) You will get a pop up box titled “BIOS Update for Sony Battery V1.0.0.14”
3.) There will be two options labeled File Mode or Patch Mode , one will be chosen by default “ ” “ ”
depending on the version of BIOS previously installed on your computer.
4.) then, choose Update . Choose “Accept Agreement”; “ ”
5.) Once the upgrade installation is completed and the laptop has rebooted replace the original Sony battery
with the Lenmar battery you just purchased and you can continue to use this battery.
“No Original Battery”
If your original battery is not working please follow the alternative installation steps below.
Run the “Sony BIOS Patch ” from your desktop _2010116 .exe with only the AC Adapter connected, and
without a battery being installed. An error message will pop up alerting you that there is no battery installed.
Close the installation program and insert the Lenmar battery and run the installation file “Sony BIOS
Patch_2010116 .exe” again.
1.) You will get a pop up box titled “BIOS Update for Sony Battery V1.0.0.14”
2.) There will be two options labeled “File Mode” or “Patch Mode”, one will be chosen by default
depending on the version of BIOS previously installed on your computer.
3.) Choose “Accept Agreement”; then, choose “Update”.
4.) Once the upgrade installation is complete the laptop will reboot and you can continue to use this
battery.
*As future BIOS patches are available the file “Sony BIOS Patch_2010116 .exe” and “BIOS Update for
Sony Battery V1.0.0.14” may be named be differently.
