Model TM55

Introducon

Thank you for selecting the Extech Instruments Model TM55. The TM55 is NFS cered

for measuring the temperature of liquids, pastes, and semi-solids for all-purpose food

checks. The TM55 was designed for use in the food industry, in homes, businesses,

laboratories, agricultural applicaons (for soil), and educaonal facilies. This device is

shipped fully tested and calibrated and, with proper use, will provide years of reliable

Cauon! Risk of Injury

 Keep this instrument and its baeries out of the reach of children

 Be careful when using the probe. Always store the instrument safely folded.

 Do not place baeries in a re

 Do not short-circuit baeries

 Do not dis-assemble the baeries

 Do not aempt to re- arge the baeries. Risk of explosion! ch

 Baeries can be fatal if swallowed, i swallowed get medical assistance immediately f

 Baeries contain harmful acids. Low baeries should be replaced as soon as

possible to prevent damage caused by leaking baeries

 Wear chemical-resistant gloves and eye protecon when handling leaking baeries

Important informaon on Product safety!

 Do not expose the unit to extreme temperature, vibraon, or shock

 Only the probe can withstand temperature up to 482 oF (250oC) not the instrument

 Never place the probe directly over re

Geng Started

 Using a coin, open the baery compartment by turning the compartment lid to the

le and then remove the insulang strip. Close the compartment aer removing

the insulang strip.

 Remove the protecve display foil.

 Carefully fold out the thermometer probe and the unit is now ready to use.

 The sensor is located at the p of the probe. To measure temperature, insert the

probe into the material under test to a depth of at leas ). t 0.4” (1 cm

 The probe has a rotaonal angle of 180 degrees maximum.

 Switch the instrument power OFF by carefully folding the probe into its storage

posion.

 The instrument will automacally switch OFF aer 60 minutes of inacvity. To

switch the instrument ON, fold the probe in for 4 seconds and then fold out again.

Baery Replacement

When the low baery icon appear the display the and the icon ERROR on ,

CR2023 baery must be replaced:

 Using a coin, open the baery compartment by turning the compartment lid to

the le

 Remove the old battery and insert new CR2032 with the posive (+) side facing

upward

 Close the baery compartment ghtly by turning the compartment lid to the right

Battery Safety Reminders

 Please dispose of baeries responsibly; observe local, state, and naonal

regulaons.

 Never dispose of baeries in a re; baeries may explode or leak.

Troubleshoong

NO DISPLAY:

Fold the probe in and wait several seconds. Then fold the probe out.

Check for baery and check for proper baery polarity (posive side facing up)

INCORRECT DISPLAY:

Replace baery

Check the posion of the probe; the probe must be inserted into test material to a depth

of at least ) 0.4” (1cm

Care and Maintenance

 Clean the instrument with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasives, solvents, or scouring

agents

 Remove the baery when the instrument is to be stored for long periods

 Keep the instrument in a dry storage location

 To prolong the baery life close (fold in) the probe when not in use
