Introduction
The D-Link DSP-W118 Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug is a multi-purpose, compact, and easy-to-use device that allows you to control
your home’s electric appliances from wherever you are. Scheduling provides a helpful way to save power while you’re at
work or asleep, and the mydlink™ app provides an easy way to set up alerts, or power an appliance on or o.

1 Power Socket Connect your appliances, lamps, or other electronic devices you wish to control here.

3 Power / Reset Button Press this button to turn on/o the power socket. Press and hold this button until the Status LED
turns solid red to reset the device to factory default settings.

Section 2 - Installation
Please read all of the safety and operating instructions before using your device:
• Do not open the device or attempt to repair or service it.
• Use the device in a dry location, and avoid placing it in a humid environment.
• Do not submerge the device in liquid or attempt to clean it with liquids or solvents. To clean the device, disconnect from
the power outlet and use a damp towel.
• This device should only be used indoors.
Before you Begin
Plan the location of your devices:
• Verify that your devices are electrically rated to operate with the power available in your location.
• Connect devices into electrical outlets that are not controlled by a wall switch. This will help you to avoid accidentally
turning o power to the device.
• Be sure to plug it in to a grounded electrical outlet in order to help prevent against electrical shock.

Section 2 - Installation
Wireless Installation Considerations
The DSP-W118 Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug connects to your network using a wireless connection from virtually anywhere within
the operating range of your wireless network. Keep in mind that the number, thickness and location of walls, ceilings, or
other objects that the wireless signals must pass through may limit the range. Typical ranges vary depending on the types
of materials and background RF (radio frequency) noise in your home or business. The key to maximizing wireless range is to
follow these basic guidelines:
1. Keep the number of walls and ceilings between the product and other network devices to a minimum - each
wall or ceiling can reduce your device's range from 1 to 30 meters (3 to 90 feet). Position your devices so that the
number of walls or ceilings is minimized.
2. Be aware of the direct line between network devices. A wall that is 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) thick, at a 45-degree
angle appears to be almost 1 meter (3 feet) thick. At a 2-degree angle it looks over 14 meters (42 feet) thick!
Position devices so that the signal will travel straight through a wall or ceiling (instead of at an angle) for better
reception.
3. Building materials make a dierence. A solid metal door or aluminum studs may have a negative eect on
range. Try to position access points, wireless routers, and computers so that the signal passes through drywall or
open doorways. Materials and objects such as glass, steel, metal, walls with insulation, water (sh tanks), mirrors,
le cabinets, brick, and concrete will degrade your wireless signal.
4. Keep your product away at least 1 to 2 meters (3 to 6 feet) from electrical devices or appliances that generate RF
noise.
5. If you are using 2.4 GHz cordless phones or X-10 (wireless products such as ceiling fans, lights, and home
security systems), your wireless connection may degrade dramatically or drop completely. Make sure your 2.4
GHz phone base is as far away from your wireless devices as possible. The base transmits a signal even if the
phone is not in use.

mydlink App Device Setup
Launch the mydlink app and create a new account or sign in to your
existing account.
Note: If you are asked about allowing the app to access your location, select Allow.
Make sure location services are turned on in your phone’s settings.

Download the mydlink app from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play
(Android) by scanning the QR code.
Note: Ensure your device is connected wirelessly to the network that the DSP-W118
will be in.

After logging in, tap the Menu button in the top-left corner.

Select Add a Device.
Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the device setup.

Using the mydlink App
Controlling Your Device
After setting up your DSP-W118 Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug with a mydlink
account in the mydlink app, you will be able to remotely access your smart
plug through the app. After signing into your mydlink account, you will see a
screen similar to the following.
If you have previously checked the Add to shortcut option while installing
the device, you will see a quick link to your device directly on the home
screen. Tap the shortcut link to turn on or o your device.
To access the settings for your DSP-W118 Mini Wi-Fi Smart Plug,
tap the plug icon or the button.
Note: Screenshots are representative only. The mydlink app is constantly improving and so
may appear dierent.
Here you can turn o or on your plug by tapping the or
button. You can also tap that button from the home screen if
you have previously checked the Add to shortcut option.
In the selected device group page, you can select the specic
plug in the carousel by tapping its icon.

Device
To access the device page:
• From the home page, tap > > > navigate to your plug on the carousel > Devices Plug
The device page contains several options for you to congure your plug.

Step 1: tap the icon to change the time duration.
Step 2: Choose a time duration and then tap .Done
Step 3: Tap either or to choose whether the plug turns on or o when the timer ends. Press to start the Start
countdown.
Step 4: Tap to cancel the timer. If less than one minute is remaining, the time will be displayed in seconds.Stop

Troubleshooting
1. How can I access my device remotely through the Internet?
In order to use your device remotely through the Internet using the mydlink app, you must register your device
with a mydlink account. You can do this using the free mydlink app. Please go to Using the mydlink App on page 8
for more information.
2. What do I need to do before I upgrade from the mydlink Lite app to the mydlink app?
You can use the same account to log in but certain devices from mydlink Lite may not be supported in the new app.
