Safety
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
Warning: Read all safety warnings and all instructions. Failure to follow
thewarnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future reference.
Theterm power tool” in thewarnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power
tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
1) Work area safety
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in thepresence
of ammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite
thedust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating apower tool.
Distractions can cause you to lose control.
2) Electrical safety
a) Power tool plugs must match theoutlet. Never modify theplug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools.
Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators. There is anincreased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering apower
tool will increase therisk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse thecord. Never use thecord for carrying, pulling or unplugging
thepower tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
Damaged or entangled cords increase therisk of electric shock.
ENGLISH
4
e) When operating apower tool outdoors, use anextension cord suitable for
outdoor use. Use of acord suitable for outdoor use reduces therisk of electric shock.
f) If operating apower tool in adamp location is unavoidable, use aresidual current
device (RCD) protected supply. Use of anRCD reduces therisk of electric shock.
3) Personal safety
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating
apower tool. Do not use apower tool while you are tired or under
theinfluence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Amoment of inattention while
operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection.
Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat,
or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure theswitch is in theoff-position before
connecting to power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying
thetool. Carrying power tools with your finger on theswitch or energising power
tools that have theswitch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning thepower tool on.
Awrench or akey left attached to arotating part of thepower tool may result in
personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables
better control of thepower tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing
and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for theconnection of dust extraction and collection
facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection
can reduce dust-related hazards.
4) Power tool use and care
a) Do not force thepower tool. Use thecorrect power tool for your application.
Thecorrect power tool will do thejob better and safer at therate for which it was designed.
b) Do not use thepower tool if theswitch does not turn it on and off. Any power
tool that cannot be controlled with theswitch is dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Disconnect theplug from thepower source and/or thebattery pack from
thepower tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or
storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce therisk of starting
thepower tool accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of thereach of children and do not allow persons
unfamiliar with thepower tool or these instructions to operate thepower tool.
Power tools are dangerous in thehands of untrained users.
ENGLISH
5
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect thepower tool’s
operation. If damaged, have thepower tool repaired before use.
Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use thepower tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these
instructions, taking into account theworking conditions and thework to be
performed. Use of thepower tool for operations different from those intended could
result in ahazardous situation.
5) Battery tool use and care
a) Recharge only with thecharger specified by themanufacturer. Acharger that
is suitable for one type of battery pack may create arisk of fire when used with
another battery pack.
b) Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any
other battery packs may create arisk of injury and fire.
c) When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like
paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects, that can
make aconnection from one terminal to another. Shorting thebattery terminals
together may cause burns or afire.
d) Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from thebattery; avoid
contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts
eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from thebattery may cause
irritation or burns.
6) Service
a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified persons, and only
with original spare parts. This guarantees thesafety of theelectrical hand tool.

Overload protection and other safety features
Thebattery has anumber of safety features that prevent damage to thehedge
trimmer/pole saw and battery during use.
During brief moments of high loads, theoverload protection may switch thehedge
trimmer/pole saw off. This protection resets automatically. Release thepower switch,
wait afew seconds, ensure that there is no load and restart thehedge trimmer/pole
saw. Thehedge trimmer/pole saw should now function normally again.
ENGLISH
10
Under high loads for extended periods, theoverheating protection may switch
thehedge trimmer/pole saw off. This feature is self-resetting but thehedge trimmer/
pole saw cannot be restarted until it has returned to asafe operating temperature.
Let thehedge trimmer/pole saw battery cool before trying to restart it. Adverse
temperatures can occur in direct sunlight and should therefore be avoided.
Thebattery has alow-voltage protection device, which operates when thebattery
becomes discharged. Thelow-voltage protection device turns off thehedge
trimmer/pole saw automatically and thebattery then needs to be recharged.

Cutting/trimming
Make sure that there are no hidden obstacles (metal poles/wire fences) in thearea
to be trimmed.
Max branch diam: 14 mm.
Hold thetrimmer firmly; maintain asteady stance and do not lean out too far.
Be extra careful when using aladder.
Move thetrimmer along in aslow and steady motion.
Thedouble-sided cutter blade enables trimming in both directions or in apendulum
action from side to side.
For even trimming on thesides, it is better to cut in thedirection of growth, from
thebottom up.
If you trim from thetop down, thethinner twigs will bend out and there is arisk of
holes or thin patches appearing in your hedge.
In order to ensure astraight top edge, you can stretch alength of string over
thehedge as aguide.
Pole saw
Warning:
Always keep thework area tidy so you can move freely without therisk of tripping
over obstacles.
Make sure that there are no loose branches that could become caught in thepole saw.
Make sure that you are wearing all required safety gear before starting.
Make sure that all parts of thepole saw head are intact, in place and undamaged.
Check that thesaw chain is sharp and completely taut.
Keep themotor housing ventilation slots free from debris.
Thesafety catch for thepower trigger (3) and thepower trigger (2) should be easily
activated without sticking and otherwise function normally.
Check that both handles are clean and easily gripped.
Topping up the saw chain oil
1. Open thesaw chain oil filler cap (17) and top up with good quality saw chain oil.
Check thelevel in thewindow (21).
2. Screw thecap back on.
3. Check theoil level regularly while working.
Sawing technique
It is advisable to practice your sawing technique on easily accessible branchesfirst.
Thiswill allow you to comfortably practice your sawing technique in various situations.
Itwill then be easier and safer for you to progress onto using more advanced sawing
techniques.
Warning: Neversaw into bushes or thin branches. Thesecan get caught in
thesaw chain and cause thesaw to be thrown out of control.
ENGLISH

Pull sawing (recommended)
Always use thebottom side of theblade for cutting
branches. This technique involves sawing branches
from thetop to thebottom. Thesaw chain pulls
thesaw forwards, away from theuser. Whenpull
sawing, theuser has much more control over thesaw
and can better avoid kickbacks.
Push sawing
This technique involves sawing thebranch from
thebottom to thetop. Thesaw chain thus pulls
thesaw back towards theuser. This means that
theuser has to equalise therearward force of thesaw
chain to compensate. If theforce is not equalised,
there is adanger of theguide bar being pulled too
far backwards so that just thetip of thebar is in
contact with thebranch. Thiscan cause kickbacks or
unexpected bar movement.
Lopping off branches
When sawing thinner branches, it is usually
sufficient to employ thepull sawing technique.
When sawing thicker branches, use thefollowing
technique:
1. Makethefirst cut from below, about 15–20 cm
from thetreetrunk. Cutabout 1/3 of theway
through thebranch.
2. Makethesecond cut about 5–10 cm outside
thefirstcut. Cutfrom above and cut all
theway through thebranch.
3. Placethethird cut as close to thetree trunk
as possible. Cutabout 1/3 of theway through
thebranch. Sawfrom thebottom.
4. Makethefourth cut as close thetree trunk
as possible and cut all theway through
thebranch. Sawfrom thetop.
ENGLISH
16
Note:
Always begin with thebranches lowest down on thetrunk.
Always stand in awell-balanced stable stance.
Never work whilst standing on aladder.
Never saw off abranch which is directly above yourhead.
Never overreach, lean too far forward or too far backward.
Never work in poor light or weather conditions.
Always use thecarrying harness.
Tidy thework area before beginning work and check thesurroundings for foreign
objects that may interfere with proper work safety.
Always hold thesaw with bothhands.
Start
Lubricate theblade with asuitable oil if thehedge trimmer is not to be used for
along time.
Clean theexterior of thehedge trimmer using adamp cloth. Use only mild cleaning
agents, never solvents or corrosive chemicals.
Remove all dirt, especially from around themotor ventilation slits.
Regularly check and lubricate theblade
with asuitable oil and make sure that all
screws in theblade are properly tightened.
1. Remove thebar guard.
2. Loosen theknob on thecarry strap attachment (6)
and adjust theattachment to thedesired position.
3. Slide thebattery into thebattery connector (4) and
make sure that it clicks securely into place.
4. Push thesafety catch for thepower trigger (3)
forwards and pull the power trigger (2). Thepole saw
will now start.
5. Thesaw will stop automatically if thepower trigger
is released.

level values declared in this instruction manual have been carried out in accordance
with astandardised test method described in EN50636-2-91 and can be used for
comparing one power tool with another.
Themeasurement method may also be used for apreliminary assessment of
vibration exposure.
Thedeclared vibration emission level applies when thepower tool is used in
accordance with this instruction manual. If however, thepower tool is used for
other purposes and with other accessories or has not been properly maintained,
thevibration emission level could increase significantly over thetotal working period.
For anexact assessment of thevibration exposure, thetimes when thetool is
switched off or running idle should also be taken into account. This significantly
reduces thevibration exposure over thetotal working period. Decide upon safety
measures to protect theoperator from theeffects of vibration during all types of use.

1) Arbetsutrymmet
a) Håll arbetsutrymmet rent och väl upplyst.
a) Det elektriska handverktygets stickpropp måste passa ivägguttaget.
