AVANT PROPOS

Nous vous remercions d’avoir choisi une télécommande universelle METRONIC et sommes persuadés qu’elle vous donnera

entière satisfaction. Le modèle 495398 permet de piloter jusqu’à 6 appareils : TV, récepteur satellite (SAT), lecteur DVD (DVD),

chaîne Hi-Fi (AUX), adaptateur TNT (TNT) ainsi que BOX ADSL (BOX). Après avoir mis les piles 1.5V AAA (non fournies) dans

l’emplacement prévu à cet eet, vous pourrez installer votre télécommande pour chaque type d’appareil à commander. La

télécommande universelle METRONIC est conçue pour commander la plupart des appareils de chaque marque. Pour cela,

vous avez le choix entre trois méthodes d’installation : par code Marque, par recherche automatique ou par apprentissage.

Dans les procédures ci-dessous,

nous donnons un exemple pour le téléviseur (TV). Pour installer, par exemple, votre adaptateur

TNT ou votre récepteur satellite,

remplacez TV par TNT ou SAT. Après l’installation, il sut d’appuyer sur la touche TV, TNT, SAT,

etc. pour sélectionner un appareil puis le piloter en appuyant sur la touche désirée.

Dans le cas où votre appareil n’est pas connu par ce modèle, vous pourrez lui apprendre (LEARN) grâce à la télécommande

d’origine.

A - Installation par code Marque

1 - Allumez votre téléviseur.

2 - Recherchez dans les pages suivantes les codes qui correspondent à la marque de votre téléviseur. Ex: pour un téléviseur

AEG, vous allez essayer le code 0589, puis 1423 si le premier ne fonctionne pas, puis 0043 si aucun des deux premiers

codes ne fonctionne.

3 - Pressez la touche PROG, puis, tout en maintenant cette touche PROG enfoncée, pressez la touche TV pendant quelques

secondes, jusqu’à ce que le voyant s’allume. Relâchez les deux touches, le voyant reste allumé. Si vous attendez trop long-

temps sans appuyer sur une touche, la télécommande sort du mode de programmation et le voyant s’éteint. Reprenez

alors au début de l’étape 3.

4 - Entrez un des codes Marque à quatre chires. A chaque chire, le voyant s’éteint brièvement. Le voyant s’éteint déniti-

vement après avoir entré le 4ème chire. Si le voyant clignote deux fois puis reste allumé, passez au code suivant.

5 - Dirigez la télécommande vers votre téléviseur et essayez les fonctions principales (changement de chaîne, réglage

volume...).

6 - Si la télécommande ne pilote pas correctement le téléviseur, recommencez la procédure (à partir de l’étape 3) avec le code

Marque suivant. Si la télécommande pilote correctement le téléviseur, l’installation est terminée. Si aucun code marque ne

donne satisfaction, passez à la recherche automatique.

B - Installation par recherche automatique

1 - Allumez votre téléviseur. Étant donné que la recherche peut prendre un certain temps (de quelques minutes à un quart

d’heure) installez-vous confortablement devant le téléviseur.

2 - Pressez la touche PROG, puis, tout en maintenant cette touche PROG enfoncée, pressez la touche TV pendant quelques

secondes, jusqu’à ce que le voyant s’allume. Relâchez les deux touches, le voyant reste allumé.

3 - Appuyez sur la touche PROG, le voyant se met à clignoter. Pressez et maintenez enfoncée la touche , le voyant s’éteint.

Maintenez la pression jusqu’à ce que le voyant se remette à clignoter lentement. La recherche automatique vient de dé-

marrer, le voyant reste allumé et clignote à chaque fois que la télécommande essaie un nouveau code. Tenez-vous prêt à

appuyer sur la touche 0.

4 - Dès que le téléviseur s’éteint, appuyez sur la touche 0, le voyant se met à clignoter. Appuyez sur la touche TV, le voyant

s’éteint. Note : vous devez être susamment rapide (moins d’une seconde entre le moment où le téléviseur s’éteint et le

moment où vous appuyez sur la touche 0) pour que la télécommande ne soit pas passée au code suivant.

5 - Puisque le téléviseur s’est éteint, rallumez-le avec la télécommande d’origine ou avec les touches en face avant.

6 - Dirigez la télécommande vers votre téléviseur et essayez les fonctions principales (changement de chaîne, réglage

volume...). Si la télécommande ne pilote pas correctement le téléviseur, poursuivez la recherche automatique en repre-

nant à l’étape 2. Si la télécommande pilote correctement le téléviseur, l’installation est terminée.

C - Installation par apprentissage

Si l’installation par code Marque et l’installation par recherche automatique ont échoué, vous devez procéder à une installation

ar apprentissage. Cette installation consiste à copier les touches de la télécommande d’origine vers la touche de votre choix

sur votre nouvelle télécommande universelle. La fonction d’apprentissage peut également servir quand l’installation par code

Marque ou l’installation automatique fonctionne partiellement (fonctions spéciales inopérantes, par exemple).

1 - Positionnez face à face, à deux ou trois centimètres l’une de l’autre, la télécommande d’origine et la télécommande

495398.

2 - Pressez la touche PROG et maintenez-la enfoncée. Tout en maintenant la touche PROG enfoncée, pressez la touche TV, le

voyant s’allume. Relâchez les deux touches, le voyant reste allumé.

3 - Pressez la touche LEARN, le voyant s’éteint brièvement puis se rallume.

4 - Sur votre nouvelle télécommande universelle 495398, pressez la touche que vous voulez programmer (ex VOL+), le voyant

s’éteint brièvement puis se rallume.

5 - Sur la télécommande d’origine, pressez brièvement la touche à copier (VOL+ dans notre exemple), le voyant clignote deux

fois dès que la touche est apprise. Si le voyant ne clignote pas, rapprochez les télécommandes et pressez de nouveau la

touche à copier. Si vous tardez à appuyer sur la touche d’origine, le voyant s’éteint, il faut recommencer à l’étape 2.

6 - Recommencez l’étape 4 avec les touches suivantes (VOL-, marche/arrêt, 1, 2, …).

7 - Une fois la dernière touche apprise, appuyez sur LEARN, le voyant s’éteint indiquant que le mode d’apprentissage a été

quitté.

8 - Dirigez la télécommande vers votre téléviseur et essayez les touches que vous venez de programmer. Si le téléviseur réagit

mal ou pas du tout aux fonctions de certaines touches, reprenez l’apprentissage de celles-ci en reprenant à l’étape 2. Si la

télécommande pilote correctement le téléviseur, l’installation est terminée.

Changement de piles

Lorsque la portée de la télécommande diminue, ou que la télécommande présente des dysfonctionnements, c’est probable-

ment parce que les piles doivent être changées. Grâce à sa sauvegarde dans une mémoire interne, vous pouvez changer les

piles sans perdre vos réglages et apprentissages.

FOREWORD

Thank you for choosing a universal METRONIC remote. We are condent you will be fully satised with this product. The

495398 model allows you to control up to 6 appliances: TV, Satellite receiver (SAT), DVD recorder (DVD) or HIFI system (AUX),

DVB-T set top box (TNT), ADSL box (BOX). After inserting the 1.5V AAA batteries (not included) in the remote, you can set

up the remote for each appliance that you wish to control. The universal METRONIC remote has been conceived to control

most products of each brand. This is why you have the choice between 3 types of set ups: by Brand code, automatic search

or through the learning function. In the set up details below, we use a TV as example. In order to set up the remote for your

Satellite receiver or DVB-T set top box, replace ‘TV’ with ‘SAT’ or ‘TNT’. After you have set up the remote, simply press the TV,

SAT, TNT etc key to select the appliance you wish to control.

In case your equipment is not recognized by this model, you may teach him (LEARN) through the original remote.

A - Set up by brand code

1 - Switch on your TV.

2 - Look up in the following pages the codes that correspond to the brand of your TV (i.e. for AEG, you should try the code

0589, then 1423 if the rst code does not work, and nally 0043 if none of the two rst codes work).

3 - Press the PROG and TV keys together for a few seconds until the light switches on. If you wait too long before pressing

another key, the remote will go into standby and the light will switch o. You should then start at Step 3.

4 - Enter one of the 4-digit Brand codes. After each digit, the light will briey switch o. It will switch o for good after you

have entered the 4th digit. If the light blinks twice and then stays on, try the next code.

5 - Point the remote towards your TV and try using the main features (changing channels, adjusting sound…)

6 - If the remote does not control the TV properly, try the set up again (from 3) with the next Brand code. If the remote

controls the TV correctly, then the set up is over. If the remote does not work properly with any code, you should try an

automatic search.

B - Automatic Search

1 - Switch on your TV. The automatic search might take a little while (up to 15 minutes).

2 - Press the

PROG

and TV keys together for a few seconds until the light switches on. When you release the keys the light

should stay on.

3 - Press the

PROG

key. The light should start blinking. Press the key until the light switches o and slowly starts blinking

again. This means the automatic search has started. The light should stay on and blink every time a new code is entered.

You should be ready to press the 0 key.

4 - As soon as the TV switches o, press the 0 key. The light should start blinking. Press the TV key. The light should switch

o. Note: You should be quick enough not to exceed 1 second before the next code from your remote control (a bit less

than 1 second between turning TV o and time to press key «0»).

5 - As your TV is now switched o, switch it on again using the original remote or with the front keys.

6 - Point the remote towards your TV and try using the main features (changing channels, adjusting sound…). If the remote

does not control the TV properly, try the automatic set up again (from 2). If the remote controls the TV correctly, then

the set up is over.

C - Learning function

If the rst two methods have failed, you can still set up the remote through the learning function. The method consists in co-

pying the keys from the original remote onto a key of your choosing on your new universal remote. The learning function can

also be used when Brand code set up and Automatic search only partly function (ineective special functions, for instance).

1 - Place both the original and the 495398 remotes up to a distance of three centimetres away, facing each other.

2 - Press the PROG key and push down. While keeping the PROG key pressed, press TV key, the warning light comes on.

Release both keys, and the light remains lit.

3 - Press the LEARN key, the warning light briey switches o, and comes on again.

4 - Press the key you want to program on your new universal remote 495398 (VOL+ for ex.), the light briey switches o,

and lights up again.

5 - Press the key to copy on the original remote (VOL+ in the ex.), the light blinks twice as soon as the key is recognized. If

the light does not blink, bring both remotes closer and press the key to copy again. If you take too much time to press

on the original key, the light will switch o, and you will have to start again from step 2.

6 - Start again from step 4 with the following keys (VOL -, POWER, 1,2,…).

7 - Once the last key has been recognized, press on LEARN, the light switches o showing that you have left the learning

function.

8 - Point the remote at your TV set and try to press the keys you have just programmed. If the TV set answers badly or does

not answer at all to some keys, start the learning function again for them from step 2. If the remote controls the TV set

correctly, then the set up is over.

Changing batteries

When the remote starts struggling to control the appliances or if it does not work properly, you should try changing

batteries. Thanks to its memory function, you can change batteries withouht losing your settings on the remote.
