It is the installer’s responsibility to comply with installation

clearances specied on the model/serial rating plate.

Themodel/serial/rating plate is located inside the range

hoodon the left wall.

Range hood location should be away from strong draft

areas,such as windows, doors, and strong heating vents.

Cabinet opening dimensions that are shown must be

used.Given dimensions provide minimum clearance.

Consultthe cooktop/range manufacturer installation

instructions before making any cutouts.

This range hood is recommended for use with cooktops

witha maximum total rating of 40,000 BTUs or less.

Grounded electrical outlet is required. See “Electrical

Requirements” section.

All openings in ceiling and wall where range hood will

beinstalled must be sealed.

These range hoods are factory set for vented installations.

Models that are capable of being installed as non-vented

(recirculating) require charcoal lters. See the “Assistance or

Service” section for information on ordering charcoal lters.

Manufactured Home Construction Safety Standards, Title

24CFR, Part 328 (formerly the Federal Standard for Mobile

Cold Weather Installations

An additional backdraft damper should be installed to

minimizebackward cold air ow and a thermal break should

beinstalled to minimize conduction of outside temperatures

aspart of the vent system. The damper should be on the cold

airside of the thermal break.

The break should be as close as possible to where the

ventsystem enters the heated portion of the house.

Makeup Air

Local building codes may require the use of makeup

airsystemswhen using ventilation systems greater than

speciedCFM of air movement. The specied CFM varies

fromlocale to locale. Consult your HVAC professional

forspecic requirements in your area.

Venting Requirements

Vent system must terminate to the outdoors, except

fornon-vented (recirculating) installations.

Do not terminate the vent system in an attic

orotherenclosed area.

Do not use a 4" (10.2 cm) laundry-type wall cap.

Use 31/4" x 10" (8.3 x 25.4 cm) rectangular metal

vent,depending on your installation requirement.

Rigidmetalvent is recommended. Plastic or metal

foilventisnotrecommended.

The length of vent system and number of elbows should

bekept to a minimum to provide efcient performance.

For the most efcient and quiet operation:

Use no more than three 90° elbows.

Make sure there is a minimum of 24" (61 cm) of straight

ventbetween the elbows if more than 1 elbow is used.

Do not install 2 elbows together.

Use clamps or duct tape to seal all joints in the vent system.

The vent system must have a damper. If roof or wall cap has

a damper, do not use damper supplied with the range hood.

Use caulking to seal exterior wall or roof opening

conformance with National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA

70 (latest edition) or CSA Standards C22.1-94, Canadian

ElectricalCode, Part 1 and C22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition),

andall local codes and ordinances.

If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is

recommended that a qualied electrician determine that

theground path is adequate.

If the house has aluminum wiring, follow

theprocedurebelow:

Connect the aluminum wiring using special connectors

and/or tools designed and UL listed for joining copper to

aluminum.

Follow the electrical connector manufacturer’s recommended

procedure. Aluminum/copper connection must conform

withlocal codes and industry accepted wiring practices.

Wire sizes and connections must conform with the rating

ofthe appliance as specied on the model/serial/rating

plate.The model/serial/rating plate is located inside the

range hoodon the left wall.

Wire sizes must conform to the requirements of the National

Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 (latest edition) or CSA

Standards C22. 1-94, Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1

andC22.2 No. 0-M91 (latest edition), and all local codes

andordinances.

NOTES:

Depending on your model, determine which venting

methodto use: roof, wall or non-vented (recirculating).

It is recommended that the vent system be installed before

the range hood is installed. Go to “Venting System” in the

“Installation Requirements” section if you need assistance.

Before making cutouts, make sure there is proper clearance

within the ceiling or wall for the vent system.

1. Disconnect power

2. Mark hole locations

Align the exterior edge of the mounting brackets

withtheexterioredges of the upper cabinet.

IMPORTANT: The brackets should touch the upper cabinet.

With a pencil, mark the upper holes on the brackets.

3. Install brackets

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, install the drywall anchors.

Using #8-18 x 1" (4.2 x 25 mm) at-head #2 Phillips screws,

install the mounting brackets using the upper holes.

NOTE: For installations to a surface other than drywall,

itisrecommended that a qualied contractor determine

theanchoring method.

4. Prepare Range Hood

Set the range hood on its back on a covered surface.

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the rectangular

damper attached with 3.5 x 9.5 mm screws.

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the electrical

boxcover.

Using a at-blade screwdriver, remove the appropriate

powersupply knockout.

WARNING

Electrical Shock Hazard

Disconnect power before servicing.

Replace all parts and panels before operating.

Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.

5. Mark hole locations

Lift the range hood into place and insert the mounting bracket

tabs through the slots in the back of the range hood.

Hold the range hood rmly in place with one hand and

bendeach mounting tab (A) upward approximately 90°.

OPTIONAL: Mark the hole in each mounting tab.

Mark the hole at the power supply knockout (B).

For a non-vented (recirculating) installation: Go to Step 7.

For a top vented installation: Mark the 4 vent hole

locations(C)on the top of the range hood.

For a rear vented installation: Mark the 4 vent hole

locations(D) on the rear of the range hood.

OPTIONAL: Mark the hole in each mounting tab.

Remove the range hood and set it aside.

6. Mark and cut vent opening

31/4" x 10" (8.3 x 25.4 cm) Rectangular Vent System

Using a 1/2" (13 mm) drill bit, drill a hole in each of the dots

marked previously on either the wall or upper cabinet. Using

the outside edges of the holes, mark the vent opening.

Using a jigsaw or keyhole saw, cut the vent opening.

7. Drill electrical opening

Using a 11/4" (3 cm) drill bit, drill the hole in the dot

markedpreviously at the electrical strain relief.

OPTIONAL: Using a 1/8" (3 mm) drill bit, drill pilot holes

for thedots marked previously at each mounting tab

atanapproximate 45° angle in an upward direction.

8. Prepare Range Hood Vents

andMounting Tabs

Install Strain Relief

Install a UL listed/CSA approved 1/2" (13 mm)

strainrelief(A).

Mounting Tabs

Start a #8-18 x 5/8" (4.2 x 16 mm) truss-head screw into

themounting tab (D) on each side of the range hood

asshown in the inset. Insert the screws approximately

2turns into the mounting tab holes.

Non-vented (Recirculating) Installations

Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver remove the 2 screws

andremove the top, front rectangular vent cover (D).

/4" x 10" (8.3 x 25.4 cm) Rectangular Vent Installations

For top vent installations, remove the top rectangular

ventknockout (C).

For wall vent installations, remove the rear rectangular

ventknockout (B).

9. Attach Vent Damper or Transition

" x 10" (8.3 x 25.4 cm) Rectangular Vent Damper

Using (2) short Phillips head screws, install the 31/4" x 10"

(8.3 x25.4 cm) rectangular damper over the top or rear

ventknockout removed in Step 8.

NOTE: If the wall cap used has a damper and it interferes with

the rectangular damper, remove the rectangular damper ap.

10. Mount Range Hood

Lift the range hood into place, positioning the rear slots

overthe mounting brackets.

Using a Phillips screwdriver, push on the screws that

arestarted into the top mounting tabs and bend the

tabsagainst the cabinet side walls. Attach the screws

tothecabinet side walls.

IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws.

For direct wire installations, run the home power supply

cable according to the National Electric Code or CSA

standards and local codes and ordinances. There must

beenough wiring from the fused disconnect (or circuit

breaker) box to make the connection in the range hood

electrical terminal box.

Tighten the strain relief screws.

NOTE: Do not reconnect power until the installation

iscomplete.

OPTIONAL: If you prefer, bend the rear tabs against

therearof the range hood and attach to the wall using

#8-18x 5/8" (4.2 x 1.6 cm) truss-head screws.

11. Connect Vent System

Connect the ventwork to the range hood.

Seal joints with vent clamps or duct tape to make

secureandairtight.

Check that the backdraft dampers work properly.

12. Make electrical connection

Option 1 - Direct Wire Installations

Use a UL listed/CSA approved wire connector

andconnectthe 3 white wires (A) together.

Use a UL listed/CSA approved wire connector

andconnectthe 2 black wires (B) together.

Connect the green (or bare) ground wire (C) from the

powersupply to the green ground screw in the electrical

boxand tighten the screw securely.

Reinstall the electrical box cover.

Reconnect power.

Option 2 - Power Cord Kit Installations

For optional power cord kit installations, follow the instructions

supplied with the power cord kit. See the “Assistance or

Service” section for information on ordering.

NOTE: Use only with range hood cord connection kits that

havebeen investigated and found acceptable for use with

thismodel range hood.

13. Complete the installation

Install a 120 V, 75 W maximum, light bulb with

E26 base.See “Replacing the Light Bulb”in

the“RangeHoodCare”section.

If removed previously, replace the lter. See “Metal or

Charcoal GreaseFilter” in the “Range Hood Care” section.

For vented installations: Install a metal lter.

For non-vented (recirculating) installations: Install

acharcoallter.

Check the operation of the range hood fan and light.

Seethe“Range Hood Use” section.

If the range hood does not operate, check to see whether

acircuit breaker has tripped or a household fuse has blown.

Disconnect the power and check the wiring connections.

NOTE: To get the most efcient use from your new

rangehood,read the “Range Hood Use” section.

The range hood is designed to remove smoke, cooking

vapors,and odors from the cooktop area. For best results,

startthe hood before cooking and allow it to operate several

minutes after the cooking is complete to clear all smoke and

odors from the kitchen.

The hood controls are located on the front panel of

therangehood.

Operating the light

Press the light switch to the left to turn the light On.

Press the light switch to the right to turn the light Off.

IMPORTANT: Flicker and visual uctuation can be present every

time the lamp switch is activated. The duration of the icker will

depend on the manner and velocity that the light switch changes

position.

Operating the fan

The fan has 2 speeds.

Press the fan switch to the left for Low speed.

Press the fan switch to the right for High speed.

Return the fan switch to the center to turn the fan Off.

Electrically ground the blower.

Use copper wire.

Connect ground wire to green ground screw in

terminal box.

Failure to do so can result in death, fire, or

electrical shock.

IMPORTANT: Clean the hood and grease lters frequently

according to the following instructions. Replace the grease

lterbefore operating hood.

Exterior Surfaces

IMPORTANT: Do not use soap-lled scouring pads,

abrasivecleaners, cooktop polishing creme, steel wool,

grittywashcloths, or paper towels.

To avoid damage to the stainless steel, do not use cleaners

thatcontain chlorine.

Cleaning Method:

Liquid detergent or all-purpose cleaner:

Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Glass cleaner to remove ngerprints.

For stainless steel models, rub in the direction of the

graintoavoid scratching or damaging the surface.

For stainless steel models, use Stainless Steel Cleaner

andPolish, Part Number 31462A (not included):

Metal or Charcoal Grease Filter

To Clean the Filter:

1. Remove the screw from the grease lter retainer.

2. Turn the grease lter retainer to release the lter.

3. For vented installations: Wash the metal lter as needed

ina dishwasher or hot detergent solution.

For non-vented (recirculating) installations: Replace

themetal lter with a charcoal lter. The charcoal lter is

notwashable. It should last up to 6 months with normal

use.For information on ordering, see the “Assistance

orService” section. Dispose of old charcoal lter.

To Replace the Filter:

1. To reinstall the lter, place the back edge of the lter into the

channel at the rear of the hood. Push the lter into place and

turn the lter retainer to secure the lter to the range hood.

2. Replace the screw in the grease lter retainer.

Replacing the Light Bulb

Turn off the range hood and allow the light bulb to cool.

1. Disconnect power.

2. Squeeze the plastic lens cover and remove it from the hood.

3. Screw a 120 V, 75 W maximum, light bulb with

E26baseintothe socket.

4. Replace the lens cover by squeezing the cover

andinsertingthe tabs into the slots.

5. Reconnect power.

If the new light does not operate, make sure the light bulb

isinserted correctly before calling service.

Avant d’entreprendre une opération d’entretien ou de

nettoyage sur l’appareil, interrompre l’alimentation de

l’appareil au panneau de distribution et verrouiller ce

dernier pour empêcher tout rétablissement accidentel de

l’alimentation du circuit. Lorsqu’il n’est pas possible de

verrouiller le tableau de distribution, placer sur ce dernier

une étiquette d’avertissement bien en vue interdisant le

rétablissement de l’alimentation.

Tout travail d’installation ou câblage électrique doit être

réalisé par une personne qualifiée, dans le respect des

prescriptions de tous les codes et toutes les normes

applicables, y compris les codes du bâtiment et de

protection contre les incendies.

Ne pas faire fonctionner un ventilateur dont le cordon ou la

fiche est endommagé. Jeter le ventilateur ou le retourner à

un centre de service agréé pour examen ou réparation.

Une source d’air de débit suffisant est nécessaire pour que

la combustion et l’évacuation des gaz puissent s’effectuer

correctement par la cheminée de l’appareil à gaz, afin

d’éviter tout reflux des gaz de combustion. Respecter les

directives du fabricant de l’équipement de chauffage et les

prescriptions des normes de sécurité – comme celles

publiées par la National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)

et l’American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air

Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), ainsi que les

prescriptions des autorités réglementaires locales.

Lors des opérations de découpage et de perçage dans un

mur ou un plafond, ne pas endommager les câblages

électriques et les canalisations qui peuvent s’y trouver.

Les ventilateurs d’évacuation doivent toujours décharger

l’air vers l’extérieur.

MISE EN GARDE : Cet appareil est conçu uniquement

pour la ventilation générale. Ne pas l’utiliser pour

l’extraction de matières ou vapeurs dangereuses ou

explosives.

Ne jamais laisser un élément de surface fonctionner à

puissance maximale sans surveillance.Un

renversement/débordement de matière graisseuse peut

provoquer des flammes et générer de la fumée. Chauffer

l’huile à une puissance moyenne ou basse.

Veiller à toujours faire fonctionner le ventilateur de la hotte

lors de la cuisson avec une puissance élevée ou lors de la

cuisson d’un mets à flamber (à savoir crêpes Suzette,

cerises jubilées, steak au poivre flambé).

Nettoyer fréquemment le ventilateur d’extraction. Veiller à

ne pas laisser la graisse s’accumuler sur les surfaces du

ventilateur ou des filtres.

Utiliser toujours un ustensile de taille appropriée. Utiliser

toujours un ustensile adapté à la taille de l’élément

chauffant.

IMPORTANT : Observer les dispositions de tous les codes

etrèglements en vigueur.

C’est à l’installateur qu’incombe la responsabilité

derespecter les distances de séparation spéciées

surlaplaque signalétique. La plaque signalétique est

situéeà l’intérieur de la hotte, sur la paroi de gauche.

Installer la hotte de cuisinière à distance de toute zone

exposée à des courants d’air, comme fenêtres, portes

etbouches de chauffage à fort débit.

Respecter les dimensions indiquées pour les ouvertures

à découper dans les meubles. Ces dimensions tiennent

compte des valeurs minimales des dégagements de

séparation. Avant d’effectuer des découpages, consulter

lesinstructions d’installation fournies par le fabricant

delatable de cuisson/cuisinière.

Il est recommandé d’utiliser cette hotte avec une table

de cuisson dont la puissance totale ne dépasse pas

40000BTU.

Une prise de courant électrique reliée à la terre est

nécessaire. Voir la section “Spécications électriques”.

Assurer l’étanchéité au niveau de chaque ouverture

découpée dans le plafond ou le mur pour l’installation

delahotte de cuisinière.

Ces hottes de cuisinière ont été congurées à l’usine pour

une installation avec décharge à l’extérieur. Les modèles

pouvant être installés dans une conguration sans décharge

à l’extérieur (recyclage) nécessitent des ltres à charbon.

Méthodes d’évacuation

REMARQUES :

L’emploi d’un conduit exible est déconseillé. Un conduit

exible peut causer une rétro-pression et des turbulences

del’air, ce qui réduit considérablement la performance.

Le circuit d’évacuation est facultatif pour ce modèle.

La sortie à l’extérieur du circuit d’évacuation peut se faire

à travers le toit ou à travers un mur. Utiliser un conduit

rectangulaire de 3 1/4 po x 10 po (8,3 cm x 25,4 cm) pour

Installations dans les régions au climat froid

On doit installer un clapet anti-retour supplémentaire à

l’arrièrepour minimiser le reux d’air froid et incorporer

unélément d’isolation thermique pour minimiser la conduction

de chaleur par l’intermédiaire du conduit d’évacuation,

del’intérieur delamaison à l’extérieur. Le clapet anti-retour

doitêtre placéducôté air froid de la résistance thermique.

L’élément d’isolation thermique doit être aussi proche que

possible de l’endroit où le circuit d’évacuation s’introduit

danslapartie chauffée de la maison.

Air d’appoint

Les codes locaux en bâtiment peuvent imposer l’emploi d’un

circuit de renouvellement de l’air/introduction d’air d’appoint,

lors de l’utilisation d’un circuit d’aspiration de débit supérieur

àune valeur spéciée en pieds cubes par minute. Le débit

spécié en pieds cubes par minute varie d’une juridiction

àl’autre. Consulter un professionnel des installations de

chauffage ventilation/ climatisation au sujet des exigences

spéciques applicables dans la juridiction locale.

Exigences concernant l’évacuation

Le circuit d’évacuation doit décharger l’air à l’extérieur,

excepté pour les installations sans décharge à l’extérieur

(recyclage).

Ne pas terminer le circuit d’évacuation dans un grenier

oudans un autre espace clos.

Ne pas utiliser une bouche de décharge murale

de4 po(10,2cm) normalement utilisée pour un

équipementdebuanderie.

Utiliser un conduit métallique rectangulaire de

3 1/4 po x 10 po (8,3x 25,4 cm), en fonction de la

conguration d’installation. Un conduit en métal rigide est

recommandé. Ne pas utiliser de conduit de plastique ou en

aluminium.

La longueur du circuit d’évacuation et le nombre

decoudesdoivent être réduits au minimum pour

desperformances optimales.

Pour un fonctionnement efcace et silencieux :

Ne pas utiliser plus de trois coudes à 90°.

Veiller à ce qu’il y ait une section droite de conduit

d’unminimum de 24 po (61 cm) entre les coudes si

l’ondoitutiliser plus d’un coude.

Ne pas installer 2 coudes successifs.

Utiliser des brides ou du ruban adhésif pour conduit

pour assurer l’étanchéité de chaque jointure du circuit

d’évacuation.

Le circuit d’évacuation doit comporter un clapet

anti-reux. Si la bouche de décharge murale ou

parletoitcomporte un clapet, ne pas utiliser

L’appareil doit être alimenté par un circuit de 120 V,

CAseulement, 60 Hz, 15 A, protégé par fusible.

Si le domicile possède un câblage en aluminium,

suivrelaprocédure ci-dessous :

Connecter le câblage en aluminium en utilisant des

capuchons ou des outils spécialement conçus et

homologués UL pour raccorder le cuivre à l’aluminium.

Suivre la procédure recommandée par le fabricant de

connecteurs électriques. Les raccordements aluminium/

cuivre doivent satisfaire aux prescriptions des codes

locauxet de l’industrie, et être conformes aux pratiques

3. Installation des brides

À l’aide d’un tournevis Phillips n° 2, installer

leschevillesd’ancrage.

À l’aide des vis à tête plate n° 8-18 x 1po (4,2 x 25 mm)

Phillipsn° 2, installer les brides de montage en utilisant

lestrous supérieurs.

REMARQUE : Pour les installations sur une surface autre

qu’unpanneau de gypse, il est recommandé de faire appel

àdupersonnel qualié pour déterminer la méthode d’ancrage.

4. Préparation de la hotte

Placer la hotte en appui sur la face arrière,

surunesurfacecouverte.

À l’aide d’un tournevis Phillips n° 2, retirer le clapet

rectangulaire attaché avec des vis de 3,5 x 9,5 mm.

À l’aide d’un tournevis Phillips n° 2, retirer le couvercle

duboîtier de raccordement.

A l’aide d’un tournevis à lame plate, retirer l’opercule

pourlepassage de l’alimentation électrique approprié.

AVERTISSEMENT

Risque de choc électrique

Déconnecter la source de courant électrique avant

l'entretien.

Replacer pièces et panneaux avant de faire la remise

en marche.

Le non-respect de ces instructions peut causer

un décès ou un choc électrique.

5. Marquage de l’emplacement

Remettre la hotte en place et insérer les pattes des brides

demontage dans les fentes situées à l’arrière de la hotte.

Maintenir la hotte en place d’une main ferme et plier

chaquepatte de montage (A) vers le haut en formant

unanglede90° environ.

FACULTATIF : Marquer le trou de chaque patte de montage.

Marquer le trou à l’emplacement de l’opercule pour

lepassagede l’alimentation électrique (B).

Pour une installation sans évacuation à l’extérieur

(recyclage) : Passer à l’étape 7.

Pour une installation à évacuation par le dessus :

Marquerl’emplacement des 4 trous d’évacuation (C)

surlapartiesupérieure de la hotte.

Pour une installation à évacuation par l’arrière :

Marquerl’emplacement des 4 trous d’évacuation (D)

surlapartiearrière de la hotte.

FACULTATIF : Marquer le trou de chaque patte de montage.

Retirer la hotte et la mettre de côté.

6. Marquage et découpage

À l’aide d’un foret de 1/2 po (13 mm), percer un trou à

chaque marque effectuée précédemment sur la paroi ou le

placard supérieur. En utilisant les extrémités externes des

trous, marquer l’ouverture de l’évacuation.

Utiliser une scie sauteuse ou une scie à guichet pour

découper l’ouverture d’évacuation.

7. Perçage des ouvertures

À l’aide d’un foret de 1 1/4 po (3 cm), percer le trou à

l’emplacementdu serre-câble marqué précédemment.

FACULTATIF : À l’aide d’un foret de1/8 po (3 mm), percer des

avant-trous aux emplacements de chaque patte de montage

marqués précédemment, à un angle d’environ 45° vers le haut.
