1.1 General considerations
General safety instructions
• Before operating this equipment please read this manual thoroughly and retain it for f ut ure reference.
• Installation and prelimi nary adjustments sh ould be per formed by qualified Barco personnel o r by authorized Barco service deal-
ers.
• All warnings on the pr ojector a nd in the d ocumentation m anuals should be adhered to.
• All instructions for oper ating and use of this equipment mu st be followed precisel y.
• All local installation codes should be adhered to.
Notice on safety
This equipment is built in acco rdance with the requ ireme nts of the internationa l safety standards IEC609 50-1, E N60950-1,
UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.60950-1, which are the safety standards of i nformation technology equipmen t including
electri cal business equipmen t. These safety standards impos e im portant requirements on the us e of s afety critical co mponents,
ma terials and insulation, in order to protect the user o r operator against risk o f electric sh ock and energy hazard and ha ving access
to live parts. Safety s tand ards also impose limits to the internal and external temperature rises, ra diation l evels, m ec hanical stability
and stre ngth, e nclosure con structi on and protection against the risk of fire. Simulated s ingle fault condit ion testing ensures the
safety of the equipment to the user even whe n the e quipment’s normal operation fails.
Users definition
Throughout this m anual, th e term SE RVICE PERSO NNEL r efers to persons having appropriat e technical training and experience
necessary to be knowledgeable of pote ntial hazards to which t hey are exposed (in cluding, but not limited to HIGH VOLTAG E ELEC-
TRIC and ELECTRONIC C IRCUITRY and HIGH BRIGHTNESS PROJECTORS) in performing a task, and of m easures to minimize
the potential risk to them selv es or other pers ons. T he term U SE R and O P ERATOR r efers to any perso n other than SE RVICE PER-
SONNEL, AUT HO RIZED to operat e professional p rojection systems located in RESTRICTE D ACCE SS LOCATION S.
The D LP C inema Systems are intended "FOR PRO F ES SION AL USE ON LY" by AUT H O RI ZED PE R S ONNEL f amil iar with poten-
tial hazards associated with hi gh voltage, high intensity light beam s, ultraviolet exposure and high temperatures g enerated by the
lamp and a s sociated circuits. On ly quali ed SERVICE PE RSO NNE L, knowledge able of such risks, are allowed to perform servicefi
functions inside the product enclosure.
Restricted access location
The DPxK-xxB/P may only be insta lled in a restricted access location, due to the tem per ature rise of p arts of the equipment ( air
outlet). The defi nition of a “restricted access location" is a location for equipment where both of following paragraphs apply:
• Access can only be gained by SERVICE P ER S ONS or by USERS who have been instruc ted about the reasons for the re striction
applied to the location and about the precautions that shall be taken.
• Access is through the use of the tool or lock and key, or other means of security, and is controlled by the authority responsible
for the location.

The par t number and serial number are p rinted on a label which is stuck on the respective part. Rec ord these num bers in the spaces
provided below. R efer to them wh enever you call upon your Barco dealer regarding this product.
